The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein, The Sound of Music has become one of the world_s most beloved musical. Set in Austria just prior to W.W.II, it_s the story of Maria, a young postulant in Nonnberg Abbey. She proves too high-spirited for religious life, and is dispatched to serve as governess for the widowed Captain von Trapp and his seven children. Maria_s love of life, generous spirit and musical exuberance soon capture the hearts of the children and their father. But the new family_s happiness is in peril when Nazi occupation threatens to force the Captain into service in the German Navy. The von Trapp_s story will thrill and inspire audiences of all ages with familiar songs that include: Climb Every Mountain, A Few of My Favorite Things, Do-Re-Mi, and the famous theme, The Sound of Music. It_s a historic part of American musical theatre that_s sure to please young and old alike.
